Mango with Lime and Sea Salt

I basically just gave you the recipe in the title. This is easily one of the most satisfying quick treats on the planet. And satisfyingly one of the easiest. It hits all the right stuff: sweet, salty, acidic, tart, fresh light, vacation-memory-inducing.

I once saw an episode of one of Bobby Flay’s shows where he said that the only ingredient-specific kitchen tool (you know, like a thing that is for only one single purpose and one single type of food only) anyone really needs is a mango slicer. I promptly through out my apple corer and replaced it with a mango cutter. It seriously rules. It’s changed my mango-loving life. So so easy. I couldn’t agree with Chef Flay any more. If you like mango, do yourself a favor and buy a mango cutter. Then make this. Here you go.

* 1 mango
* juice of 1 lime
* fine sea salt
* chili powder (optional)

Peal and slice your mango. If you have a mango cutter this takes no time at all. If you don’t, it takes forever and you have weird tiny slivers of mango to enjoy – still delicious, not quite as satisfying!

Place your mango slices on a plate or in a serving bowl. Squeeze the lime juice over it. If your lime is not particularly juicy, add another.

Sprinkle lightly with sea salt, grab a fork per person and enjoy! If you’re not serving a tiny person, try adding a sprinkle of chili powder, too – yeah
